I spent a delightful day (April 27th) participating in the Kerby/Unison Seniors Expo! This magnificent annual show is impressively organized - and as an exhibitor I felt very kindly supported (thank-you Andres!) The back-to-back conversations I had with visitors were exhilarating and educational. Thanks to those of you who paused to say hello; I was moved that some of you spontaneously shared stories - fascinating, soulful stories. Over the course of the day, a few overriding themes began to emerge - the most prominent one being: "People don't talk to each other anymore, they're too busy on their devices!" ... followed by: "My kids/grandkids are too busy with their lives to spend time listening to me, my stories." Hearing this... knowing this... brings an ache to my heart. It affirms my own calling but also - the tremendous need (for those of us in a position to help) to reach out and enable these essential connections and conversations. Thank-you as well, to the many who kindly filled out my questionnaire; your feedback is tremendously helpful! (Congratulations to Kim F. - our gift-certificate draw winner!) I am grateful that so many of you wish to stay in touch and I will keep you in-the-loop! To discover all the great offerings at the Kerby Centre - visit: unisonalberta.com
